Yes, Contents Insurance is separate from Buildings Insurance because they cover different things.

Buildings Insurance covers the ‘bricks and mortar’ of your property, whereas Contents Insurance covers the things inside, like fridges, freezers, washing machines, and floor coverings.

A

Yes, if you already have Buildings Insurance, you can add contents cover to your policy at any time.

A

No, Buildings Insurance alone doesn’t cover your contents.

Buildings Insurance covers your property's ‘bricks and mortar’, while things like furniture and floor covering are covered under Contents Insurance.

A

Property Owner’s Liability, also known as Public Liability, will protect you if you're found responsible for accidental injury to third parties or damage to their possessions at your rental property.

For example, if someone trips on a loose carpet on the staircase and is seriously injured.

We provide £2 million Public Liability cover as standard.

Depending on the property you’re insuring, you may need to select a larger amount of cover, which might be guided by your contract with your customer.

A

Home insurance isn't designed for rental properties.

It’s important to get specialist Landlord Insurance to protect against costly claims.

A

With Churchill, you can cover all your properties under one policy.

You can insure up to 10 properties online or up to 25 properties if you contact us.

A

As a first step, try to resolve your issue directly with the tenant.

If that doesn’t work, put the complaint in writing and tell them you're considering legal action.

If that doesn’t resolve it, you can evict the tenant under Section 8 or Section 21 of the Housing Act 1988.

A

If you're driving in any of the countries listed in your policy booklet, you're covered for 30 days.

A

We don’t offer quotes in a company name.

The main driver must be the policyholder, the owner, and the vehicle's registered keeper.

A

If you're hit by an uninsured driver and it's not your fault, we'll cover your excess, and your No Claim Discount with us won't be affected. You'll need to give us the other driver's registration number, make, and model. Comprehensive cover required and non-fault claims only.

A

Charging cables and your home charger are an accessory to your vehicle, which means they’re covered for accidental damage, fire and theft.

You’re also covered for any accidents involving your charging cables when they're attached to your vehicle, for example, someone tripping over your cable, as long as you’ve taken care to prevent an accident.

A

Damage to your vehicle’s battery is covered if it’s damaged due to an insured incident. You’re covered if your battery is owned or leased.

A

If your van’s keys are stolen, we’ll pay for replacing the locks, the lock transmitter and the central locking interface.

We’ll also pay to replace the affected parts of the alarm or immobiliser if the person who has stolen your keys knows where you keep your van.

A

Landlord Insurance doesn’t cover you if your tenants are living in the property with you, e.g. a lodger. This is covered under our Home Insurance.

A

New-for-old contents insurance is a cover that replaces damaged, stolen, or lost items with new products of the same value. Meaning you won’t lose out financially if your item loses its value over time.

This is different to an indemnity policy, where we make a deduction for wear and tear when your claim is settled.

A

Yes, our multi-property landlord insurance allows you to cover up to 15 properties on one policy.

A

You can cover up to 15 properties on one policy.

A

Yes, you can insure a mixture of residential and commercial properties with our multi-property cover.

A

Although Business Insurance isn’t a legal requirement, it covers you against a range of risks you may have to deal with yourself if you’re not insured.

For example, compensation claims for injuries or property damage. It also shows potential clients that you’re a reliable, professional tradesman and some larger companies won’t hire you if you’re not covered.

A

You do if you employ anyone to work for you, including apprentices, because it’s a legal requirement. If you’re a sole trader and you don’t have anyone working for you, there’s no need to have Employers’ Liability cover.

You can add Employer’s Liability cover to your policy at any time if you do take someone on. Just give us a call, and we’ll get it sorted.

A

Business insurance can cover a range of risks no matter what line of work you’re in. Mistakes happen, people get injured, and property gets damaged from time to time.

If you’re not covered, it can be expensive to cover the cost of a claim or replace damaged or stolen equipment.

Most small businesses struggle to cover these costs alone, which is why it’s important to have the right cover in place.

A

How much you pay for your business insurance depends on the level of cover you choose. Some businesses need more cover than others, for example if they have employees.

Other factors like your insurance history and the number of add-ons you choose can also affect the price you pay.

With Churchill you can choose the cover that suits your business, so you only pay for what you need.
